Google just got a partnership forged with Luxottica, the makers behind the well-known eyeglasses like the Ray-Ban, Oakley, Persol, and Vogue, which in turn agreed upon to work on the design of the Glass.
Yup, besides functionality, Google Glass will get an overhaul in terms of how will it look on you. And that is either you get the covert functions of the Glass underneath the fashionable design, or make the Glass’ parts highlight the newly evolved high-end eyewear. However, it’ll be really interesting how the leader in eyeglass makers come to resolve the balance between both functionality and fashion altogether on the Glass.
And needless to say, the Luxoticca also both have the massive manufacturing expertise and top notch retail chains that would get the newly designed Glass from conception to consumers easily. It’s really the best move by Google by far, also giving the Glass another jolt to make it to the mainstream.
The announcement’s really just about the recent partnership without any note on how much or even the timetable included on the first release. Not even a confirmation if it’ll be co-branded with the Oakleys and Ray-Bans. But what’s certain is Glass will conform to a more fashionable design.
