Just to let everyone know, you can also make and receive calls on a 1st generation iPod Touch, not just the 2nd generation Touch. Just to let everyone know, by using the Skype for iPhone app and a pair of earphones and the Macally iVoiceIII Microphone for iPod, I am successfully able to make VoIP calls from the Skype app on a 1st-generation iPod Touch.
