This one is a milestone for Twitter to have their first subscriber to cross the one million mark with celebrity Ashton Kutcher. It’s been a hell of a race actually with CNN’s account that’s not even theirs in the first place, but later on has been said was bought eventually.
The good thing about it is there’s a price at stake. For one, he swears to ding dong ditch Ted Turner in his hit MTV show Punk’d. Ashton knew him as CNN’s founder, though he maybe didn’t know he no longer runs the company.
Ashton also promised to give away 10,000 bed nets to Africa in a cause of fighting against malaria whenever he hits the million-follower mark first. EA also promised to give Ashton’s millionth follower one copy of every single game they’ll have for 2009 and a role in Sims 3 game.
With over 980,000 followers last Thursday night, Aston was invited to appear on Oprah Winfrey Show for an interview together with Twitter’s CEO Evan Williams. Oprah actually had her Twitter account signed-up yesterday as posted with her Facebook and she’ll have her first tweet on her show with Ashton Kutcher. She’s the one who coined “The King of Twitter” to Ashton, too.
This Twitter thing with Ashton as stated in an interview, actually started with an insane idea that a single person via this medium can have a larger audience than a solidly established media powerhouse like CNN. However, he’s a known celebrity as well and not some ordinary guy. Still it’s worth the race if it has a cause to trail, even just this time.
